 Short profile of Dr Menexiadis Marios  
Dr Marios Menexiadis is an economist and expert in Internal Audit Services. Currently, he is the Group Head of Internal Audit of Aegean Airlines - Olympic Group. Before joining the aviation industry in 2009, he was the Head of Internal Audit Services in Neochimiki PLC, a Group consisting of more than 24 commercial companies, production units and logistic centers, with presence in more than 9 countries. Prior to that, he has been the Group Internal Audit Director for Everest Holdings and Investments PLC, a Group consisting of more than 120 commercial companies in the Food & Beverage industry. He started his professional career with the Big 5 (Andersen & PwC) as an Internal Audit Consultant in various industries as Manufacturing, Banking, Shipping, Retail and Services.

During his career, he has supported the set up of companies and branches in countries such as Albania, Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Poland, Egypt, Germany, Ukraine, UK, France, Austria and Belgium and he cooperated / coordinated with each country’s Tax and Finance Authorities for the respective operating units’ compliance and reporting obligations. In parallel, he has been Manager for the restructuring project of Olympic Air and Neochmiki’s new investments.

Dr Marios Menexiadis has offered his services and expertise as the Audit Committee President at the Board of Directors of Olympic Catering SA (PLC) as well as in Olympic Air subsidiary of Aegean Airlines.

Dr Marios Menexiadis is a Visiting Professor in Open University lecturing Banking Accounting at the MSc program. He is also a Visiting Professor in France Business School MSc program, lecturing Internal Auditing and Controls. Moreover, he is a Visiting Professor in National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, lecturing business and financial accounting at the MSc program. He is also teaching Internal Auditing and COSO principles at Epsilon Net, while in parallel he is an author of various articles.

He has been awarded a PhD (excellent) in Internal Audit and Best Practices for PLCs (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens), an MSc in Internal Auditing and Management (Cass Business School, City University, London), a MAcc in International Accounting and Financial Management (Glasgow University) and a BSc in Economics (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens).

In July 2015, he has been awarded the Certified Public Accountant professional certification, thus being a full member of the CPA International Association in UK and fellow member of the Association in the U.S.

In December 2014, he has been awarded the Certified Internal Controls Auditor (CICA) designation as well as the Certified Controls Specialist (CCS) designation from the Institute for Internal Controls U.S.

He holds an ‘A’ class Greek Accounting & Tax License by the Economic Chamber of Greece and he is a member of the general council of Glasgow University.

Since January 2015, he is a member of the Academic Committee at the Institute of Internal Auditors, responsible for promoting partnerships between the Institution and Universities.
